Greatest Bands

I used to listen to nothing but rap and was not even able to tolerate Rock let alone metal but during my life i have made the transition from rap to rock and i would like to share my top ten favorite bands starting from my favorite and working my way down.

#1 Metallica- My newest addition to my top 10 i love this band they are the best metal band out they are the best at what they do and that is the true meaning of success.

#2 Avenged Sevenfold or A7X -i started listening to these guys last year and they quickly became my favorite band but recently got kicked out by Metallica. I like this bands earlier songs that were classified as metalcore and if anybody listens to this that isnt used to rock then they would probably get their heads blown off. They sometimes sound a little whiney though

#3 Bullet for my Valentine- despite the name these guys are not as bad as they sound. Their music is a mixture of Electric Guiatars as well as acoustics and hard screaming along with melodic singing.

#4 Atreyu- Although this is my fourth favorite band i like these guys as much as my third favorite band these guys have addicting melodic singing.

#5 Linkin Park- These guys were the very first rock band that a listened to and used to be my favorite band. These guys are easily the best most successful rock band out today easy pick for the rock and roll hall of fame.

#6 Slipknot- These guys may be a little scary but i love their music and they set their minds to their work. They are my second favorite metal band behind Metallica

#7 Bring Me The Horizon- New addition to my top 10 these guys dont make music they make noise but they make noise that i like. They also have the craziest solos i have ever heard.

#8 Slayer- I love this band in my opinion they are second only to metallica they are one of the greatest metal bands out.

#9 Marilyn Manson- Despite his videos which i feel are crossing the line his music is great and he is extremely dedicated.

#10 My Chemical Romance- These guys were the first of their kind of music and many poeple copied the sound just becuase they are number 10 doesnt mean they arent good i have about 50 favorite bands and these guys made it to the top 10

Current billboard hits

Perhaps the most influential force on the youth of America would be the music that they listen to. Lets take a look at what the billboards top hits are.



#1 The first hit is Black eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" a pretty catchy song i myself like it pretty much harmless a little innapropriate but really nothing catastrophically bad.



#2 Number two is Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" yet another pretty catchy song but of course it is to be expected. A couple of hidden meanings in that song if you can pick up let me give you a hint she isnt saying poker face.



#3 Number three is Jamie Fox's "blame it" I personally hate this song it starts off with a beat and feel as if they were all about to die or save the world it seems very grim and all of a sudden POWW!! This stupid beat that belongs in clubs comes in for me this song is just comepletely retarted.



#4 Number four is a song by some poeple called Glee Cast the name of the song is " Dont Stop Believing" i dont knnow what the hell this song is it obviously does not deserve to be number 4 i dont know why its up there.



#5 Number five is pitbulls new single "if you want me" also known as "Calle Ocho" it is an extremely catchy song with a hook sung in spanish i love this song.



#6 Number six is Linkin Parks new single for the Sequel to Transformers The name of the song is "New Divide" This is easily one of Linkin Parks best songs in my opinion.



#7 Number 7 is Kid Cudi's only good single that i know and his only good song at that called "Day 'N night" its also a pretty catchy song.



#8 Once agian Beyonce is on the top of the charts this time with her single "Halo" its a decent song not my taste though. Rumor has it that Beyonce is going to stop with music for a while and go and try and have a kid. I wonder who's the lucky guy.



#9 number nine is Katy Perry's "waking up in vegas" Katy perry has done it again in her short career she has made 4 singles and each of them has made it to the billboards top 10.



#10 i know most poeple say last but not least but when i inttroduce this song im going to introduce it as last and least becuase it sucks the name of the song is "Birthday Sex" by Jeremih all of the other songs have been pretty inocent for the most part but now i see where girls these days get there ideas from. They get their ideas from "artists" like this Jeremih guy this song is absolutly horrible.

rock music

Rock started many many years ago with artists like elvis presley and johnny cash. This music when it first came out was extremely popular and was listened to by virtually everyone. This music at the time was known as rock and roll. Soon bands such as the beatles swept through the world. Poeple especially hippies and yippies fell in love with the beatles. The beatles music was suitable for poeple of all ages unlike most of the music out today. Rock music soon evolved into bands like AC DC and Led Zepplin and The Rolling Stones these are rock legends. These bands influenced music many years to come such as metal. Bands such as Guns N Roses, Motley Crue and Kiss. Later on there was yet another evolution when the genre of metal called speed metal came out. Leading this genre was the band Metallica who were like nothing the music world has ever seen before there riffs and solos were just so fast and mind blowing poeple loved it. Coming out at the same time as metallica were bands like slayer who were also extremely catchy due to their catchy solos and riffs. Bands then just kept getting more and more mainstream from there and along with becoming more mainstream became more crappy. Bands stopped playing guitar solos they used voice enhancers and just became less talented. It is a wonder why poeple love crappy music these days. Rock music of today is almost exactly like Rap music even though poeple dont want to admit it. Rock today has gone from being mainstream to underground. Rock has been kicked out of the game by Rap

Rap Music

Rap music first blew up in the 80s with aritsts like the Beastie Boys and Run DMC Sugarhill Gang Curtis Blow. Rap was great when it first started but it strictly appealed to an all black or dominantly black and all the white poeple listened to rgock. Run DMC changed all of this. Run DMC worked with Aerosmith who had a all white fan base to recreate the album "walk this way" which was a huge hit. The album resulted in the merging of white and black music and ultimately created a new mainstream. Artists today such as jay z and Lil Wayne evolved from Run DMC and early rap. Rap in its early stages was great.



Rap gradually became more and more vulgar and pointless but also surprisingly more and more popular and today dominates the billboards. With aritsts out today such as soulja boy Gucci Mane Lil Boosie Yung Berg Slim Thug rap is becoming more and more stupid and more and more pointless. It is a wonder why rap still dominates the charts.



Rap artists talk mostly about money girls sex and drugs and yet poeple still love it. Poeple try to defend it as if it is something positive. Let me say the next time you try and say rap music is positive rap music is influential rap music is the best look up the lyrics to the top 5 rap songs and i gaurantee you that at least 3 of those 5 songs will be pointless and speaking about drugs sex money or girls.

The values of rap music i can honestly say has diminished over the past years. Today rap music is garbage and anybody who reads this can quote me on this it is absolutely horrible.

Different types of music

Humans are all not the same different poeple ahve different interests and listen to different things. Poeple mostly choose the type of music they listen to depending on where they come from and their surroundings. There are many different types of music covering many different sounds and different styles. Music can range from rap which focuses on lyrics and catchy beats to metal which focuses on fast guitars with lighting fast riffs that hook the listener and crazy guitar solos.

My next couple of posts will be focusing on the different types of music and the characteristics of each of the different types of music. I will also discuss who listens to this type of music where the music is listened to and why the music is listened to.

Other types of great music

I know that my last couple of posts have been talking about rap and speaking about how bad it is but thats just becuase i chose to attack the mainstream music first becuase most poeple listen to rap. This post will strictly be speaking about different types of rock and metal and how bad they are for society. I personally listen to rock and metal and i know there are some harsh lyrics and they are not to be taken seriously but some poeple do and it can be very dangerous. Most rock though is not that bad but there are always the extremes and this will be speaking of the extremes.

During the 70s rap was not really out and the mainstream was rock. During this time drugs swept through the music industry rock stars all over were over dosing and dying. Poeple all over followed overdosing on drugs. A popular member of a band was Nikki Sixx from the band Motley Crue who overdosed on heroine but luckily survived. Ever since then however Nikki Sixx has been walking a straight line and is now the founder of a band called Sixx A.M.

Nirvana is considered the best Grundge band to have ever come out they have many fans but this band had their own secret problems. Lead singer Kurt Cobain was found one day in his garden shed with his head blown off from a shotgun his own shotgun that he allegedly shot himself in the head with.

There are some sick bands out there and there are some wierd individuals. Perhaps the sickest band i have ever heard of is a band called Cannibal Corpse this band has an album cover with a corpse feeding off the nude body of another corpse and it is pretty sick stuff. some songs from this band are "F**ked with a knife","I C*M blood", "feeding on vaginal skin","devil to the metal" this for me is crossing the line that is too much. I have listened to stuff that most poeple cant stand becuase its just screaming and grunting loud guitars and pounding drums but this is too much. There is also a band called slayer who i dont really mind but some poeple may find disturbinghere are some lyrics to these guys songs.

By far one of the most disturbed poeple is Marilyn Manson he is a sick individual he is an anarchist he does not believe in anything he defies everything but his lyrics are deep. here are some lyrics

The main difference between these types of disturbing music and rap is that rap is mainstream and they think that they are doing something good. Nobody i know who listens to these bands think that they are doing something good and nobody looks up to them. Rappers actually think that they are doing somthing good and their music is self celebratory

Today during spanish class I overheard my classmate James speaking to my classmate Jakeel about Lil Wayne being overrated and not being the best rapper. They said that instead Fabolous is the best rapper well once again lets see what makes this rapper better than all the others what makes him so different?
